FanDuel Launches “History-Making” Sportsbook in NY

Tioga Downs Casino Resort in New York has linked up with FanDuel Group to launch a retail sportsbook – the group’s first in the Empire State.

This is the second retail sportsbook opened in New York, after the Rivers Casino in Schenectady launched its own on July 16th.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held last Friday to mark the opening of The FanDuel Sportsbook. Politicians were on hand to be part of the celebrations.

This is being hailed an excellent opportunity for the state as New York opens up its four upstate casinos to legal and regulated sports betting.

The Vice President Commercial Retail at FanDuel, Keith Wall, said that as the company continues to expand its sportsbook operations across the country, the opening of FanDuel Sportsbook at Tioga Downs could be “a history-making moment” for the group.

Wall praised Tioga Downs Casino Resort owner, Jeff Gural for being “an incredible partner” in New Jersey.

“Joining forces with him and the team at Tioga Downs allows us to bring sports betting to New York sports fans while delivering new jobs and tax revenue to the Empire State,” he said.

The FanDuel Sportsbook Features

  • 2,600 square foot sports betting floor
  • 8 betting windows
  • 14 self-service betting kiosks supplied by IGTPlayDigital
  • 27 video displays
  • Large video wall

FanDuel Launches in Pennsylvania

In the meantime, FanDuel has launched its mobile sports betting app in Pennsylvania in a live testing of its products. The three day testing period began on July 22nd.

If the test is successfully completed, FanDuel will enter the state’s expanded gambling market via its partnership with Boyd Gaming and Valley Forge Casino Resort.  It will also get the green light to launch 24/7 mobile betting.

Last month, it was shown that online and mobile app bets made up 40% of total bets in Pennsylvania.
